Day in Madrid - Finally

For those starting to read with this blog, we have caught up on our days but broke it up into a few posts to make it easier to write and read. they can be found below this post.

Today we woke up and had breakie here, like we have been doing all week. It is so nice having the apartment because it gives us the ability to have meals here.

Today was our first full day in Madrid since we day tripped the last two. Today we headed to the plaza mayor, the main square here. It was huge and nice. As we were there, there was a procession of horses and guards, followed by a carriage! It was a royal procession going to the palace carrying some dignitaries. They were on their way to meet the king. The procession went back and forth from the government building to the palace about 10 times. This meant that our plans to go into the palace were ruined because it was closed for the royal activities. We saw the chuch beside it, which was very nicely decorated with a lot of colours and continued on our way after watching the procession go by a few more times.

We walked through some nice parks, heading towards a cable car that gives good views of the city and leads to this park mary wanted to see. As yehuda is afraid of heights, he stayed behind and the 3 of us headed on the cable car. It showed us some great views of Madrid and also a good idea of what was in this big park...which was....NOTHING!! well there were trees and dry dry dry land. No grass, no animals, no nothing! It was very desert like, so yehuda didnt really miss anything. We stayed on the car and went back down, to grab some lunch.

We had a nice lunch, again i had gazpacho...ooo i love it sooo much! and the others had some meats again. The others are much more adventerous, ordering their meals without knowing what exactly it was. Yehuda had a steak which he said was cooked the best by far that he had in a long time, which really shows you how good it was!

We then walked along a grand via (a big shopping street) and headed back home. We came back for a nap and that is where we are now.

Tonight we will hit up some areas for tapas, then tomorrow we head to Barcelona in the morning.

Hope you all are doing well. We will blog from Barcelona.
